I have always wanted to see Evangeline'd Statue at Grand Pré national historic site. It is to commemorate the Acadians that were deported in 1755. A great number of these people were forced to settle in Louisiana. Their culture took root there as the Cajuns. I have Acadian ancestry and always wanted to see this historical statue.

Evagenline is the story of an Acadian woman who was set to be married to her love Gabriel. On the eve of their nuptuals, the deportation of 1755 happened. Evangeline and Gabriel were separated when she went back for her aging father and Gabriel was forced onto a ship without her.

Evangeline spent the rest of her life searching for Gabriel, only to find him on his deathbed over 50 years later.
